How do I care for my Furniture
About Oak
English Oak (Quercus Robur) is a natural product and is created by Mother Nature herself. As the oak tree takes many hundreds of years to reach maturity, various changes will take place within the tree itself. This is mainly due to the seasonal weather pattern and the different types of soil that the tree grows in. Not forgetting that every branch will in turn produce a visible knot.
The produce that you have purchased will display natural variations in colour, grain and texture. These variations will add to the character of every item of furniture. In years to come the colour will mellow and produce a patina through regular waxing and polishing.
Care of Cheese, Bread and Chopping Boards
These should be oiled very sparingly with olive or vegetable oil prior to using. They can be wiped clean with a damp cloth after use and washed when necessary. Re-oil as and when required. Should the board become rough after use, rub it down the way of the grain with fine sandpaper 240grit to restore the surface. N.B. Oiling boards will darken them slightly.
Care of Furniture
Tops of tables, sideboards and coffee Tables are treated with Ronseal, Polyurethane Satin sealer and should not require further treatment other than the odd occasional light wax. The rest of the Oak should be polished with a good solid traditional wax polish such as Liberon Black Bison clear fine paste wax.
